Thomas M. Surrec

Thomas M. Surrec, devoted husband, father, and grandfather, 66 of Penn Township, died at Excela Health Latrobe on the early morning of Monday May 8, 2023 after a fierce battle since suffering a stroke in October of 2022.  He was born May 13, 1956, in Greensburg to the late Nicholas Surrec and Hilda (Deguffroy) Surrec.

Tom was the great outdoorsman and was an avid hunter, skilled fisherman, enjoyed mowing his grass, building bonfires and cruising on his Harley, as his heart was happiest when he was in nature.  He believed in hard work and was a retired Boilermaker from Local 154. He was lighthearted and his sense of humor was something to be cherished as he was always making everyone around him laugh and loved to play Santa at Christmas time. Tom will forever be remembered for his famous saying from Rowan & Martin Laugh In, “Say Goodbye Dick.”  Although our hearts are broke as we say goodbye to Tom, the fond times with his vibrant personality, and countless memories we shared with him will comfort us in knowing we will see him again.

Tom survived by his wife Dianna Myers Surrec; son Thomas “TJ” Surrec; daughter Shannon (Dave) Weathers, step-sons Ed (Lindsay) Mapstone, and Adam ( Lindsey) Mapstone; grandchildren Zoey Mapstone, Trevor Mapstone, Sydney Mapstone, Lillianna Wilson, and Shannon and Dave’s baby girl due in July; siblings Karen Surrec Petrella (Ed Seath), Robert (Patti) Surrec, Sandy Picarsic, Patty (Ed) Kroupa; and many loving nieces and nephews.   

Please join us to celebrate and honor Tom’s life on his birthday May 13, 2023 at Manor American Legion at 1:00 p.m.  This will be a joyous occasion playing all of his favorite songs and sharing our favorite memories with all friends and family welcomed.
