Thomas " Tom" Martin, 78 of Ruffsdale, PA passed away peacefully leaving behind a lifetime of memories and love. Born and raised in West Mifflin, he graduated in 1965 as a proud West Mifflin North Viking. Tom is survived by his daughter, Kelly Rice and her husband, Richard of Houston; his beloved granddaughter, Dixie; and two cherished great-grandsons, Jayce and Kolt. He is also survived by his devoted niece, Kathleen Ohm who fondly called him "Uncle Buck", and his companion of 25 years, Jeanie Renda, with whom he shared a lifelong connection that began in Junior High. After High School Tom held several jobs, including bricklaying and working in the steel mills, before discovering his lifelong passion as a self-taught truck driver. Beginning in the early 1970s, he worked for Trumbull Corporation, spent years driving over the road, and eventually settled into a career with Mick Tully Construction in Southern California, where he specialized in moving heavy equipment. Tom had a zest for life whether sipping margaritas at Tony's on the pier or singing karaoke surrounded by the "dancing girls", he brought joy and laughter to every room. He was an incredible artist and made beautiful drawings. To know Tom was to feel safe, valued and truly befriended. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Helen Martin, his two brothers, and his sister Marita, with whom he shared a close bond. In accordance with his wishes Tom chose direct cremation, and no formal service will be held. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, a hero and a legend in the eyes of his family. "I will miss you forever, Dad." All arrangements entrusted to ASHLEY D. X. NYE CREMATION CARE & FUNERAL HOME INC. 408 Depot St. Youngwood, PA 15697.
