Shirley Jane (Kovacs) Immel, 80, of Salem Township, peacefully gained her wings Thursday, October 12, 2023, at her residence, surrounded by family. She was born February 15, 1943, in Salem Township, the daughter of George and Hazel (Klingensmith) Kovacs. She met her future husband while working at Tastyland on Route 66, and they went on to operate the Outdoor Adventures fishing and outdoor shop together for over 45 years, and at one point had her own business selling Tupperware as the Purple Lady. Shirley loved everything Elvis, angels, and purple, and could always be seen wearing her favorite color from head to toe. She was the family matriarch and the life of the party and always made her voice heard! Surviving are her loving husband of 63 years, Edwin Immel; beloved children, Maureen (Dan) Hancock, of Clarksburg, Annette Hancock, of Shelocta, Edwin Immel (Kimberly Ireland), of Greensburg, and Christine (Adam) Harrold, of Jeannette; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren that she adored; two sisters, two brothers, and a large extended family. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.
