Sheldon Thomas Oster Sr.

Sheldon Thomas Oster Sr., 80, devoted father and grandfather of Jersey Shore, PA died at Independence Westmoreland Hospital on the early morning of Thursday July 18, 2024 after a fierce battle with diabetes.  He was born December 30, 1943 in York, PA.

Sheldon was a graduate of West York Sr. High School and went on to attend the State Police Academy, and served as the Chief of Police in Glen Rock Borough before finishing his career as a Correction Officer in York County Prison.  He was a man who believed in hard work and was led by his strong faith in God. Sheldon was the great outdoorsman.  He was an avid hunter and gun collector, loved to fish as well as flea market his way through the summer months.  He was a member of the NRA, North American Hunting Club, and National Fraternal Order of Police.  An incredible family man, who was a natural protector and provider, Sheldon will fondly be remembered for his dedication to his family and community leaving a legacy of strength and unwavering loyalty.  His daily presence will be missed deeply by his son Sheldon T. Oster Jr. (Lori) of Greensburg; daughter Kimberly Oster of York; granddaughter Cheyanne Strausbaugh (Chris); great grandchildren Carter and Paisley; his companion Chrissy Vairo of Jersey Shore; and ex wife Beverly Miller (Garry).
