Shelby Jean (Rhodes) Calderone

Shelby Jean (Rhodes) Calderone, 87, born June 15, 1938 in Armbrust, went to sleep in the arms of The Lord comfortably at her Hempfield Township home on Sunday October 12, 2025.  She was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Alexander) Rhodes, and was a graduate of Youngwood High School class of 1956.  Shelby worked as an administrative and office manager at DME steel processing plant and enjoyed golfing. She was a sweet and kind hearted soul who cared deeply for her large family.  Shelby was greeted in heaven by her husband William Calderone who predeceased her, as well as her parents and brothers Charles C. Rhodes, Maurice F. Rhodes, and Gerald D. Rhodes.  She is survived by her step-daughters; Christie Bevan (Doug), Vickie Kaylor (Ed), Billie Jo Donnelly (Ed Sr.); step-grandchildren Marty Lavender (Mike), Doug Bevan (Heather), Christopher Kaylor, Kacey Stouffer, Chase Kaylor (Karynn), Eddie Donnelly, and Mackenzie Donnelly; step-great-grandchildren; many nephews and nieces including Stacey Morrison (Darryl) who helped care for Shelby; sister-in-laws Dolores Rhodes and Karen Rhodes; and her adorable black kitty cat Buddy. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of Shelby’s friends and caregivers who provided comfort during such a delicate time.
