Ronald McGinnis, 73, of Youngwood, passed away Friday May 30th, 2025 at his home. Ronald was born September 13th 1951 in Mount Pleasant and was one of three children of the late Ray and Isabelle McGinnis. From a very young age Ronald had a passion for electronics thanks to a family friend and mentor, Chester Bauman. Through hard work and perseverance he later opened his own business, McGinnis Satellite TV. where he installed satellite dishes, antennas, DVR systems, security systems, audio systems and more. His hard work and dedication to his family did not stop there though. Prior to owning his own business, Ronald was a very proud coal miner for 13 years and worked for the Helen Mining Company for 4 years. After suffering through two separate accidents he decided it was time to move on to bigger and better things. That is when he became the lead technician for Independence Communications, a company that specializes in communication technologies. He later retired from there in 2013. After retirement, he continued to tinker with his electronics in his free time. Another favorite of his was hockey night. He would always look forward to watching the Pittsburgh Penguin games with his daughter, Kaitlin. He was also an avid gun enthusiast and could be found at the Youngwood sportsman's with lifelong friend Hurley Trout. Ronald was a dedicated father, uncle, and grandfather who always enjoyed sharing his knowledge and skills with his family but was also willing to teach anybody who wanted to learn. Ronald is survived by his sister Connie Muse (and husband William Muse) his brother, Dale McGinnis, daughter, Kaitlin Valentino and son in law, Michael Valentino as well as three nephews, Billy and Bobby Muse and Kyle McGinnis and three grandchildren, Brendan and Hailey McGinnis and Alice Rose Valentino. Family will be hosting a celebration of life and will release details at a later date.
