Robert B. Barthels, 86, of Smithton passed away peacefully at Oak Hill Guardian Healthcare in Greensburg. Bob was born April 30, 1937 to the late Robert H. and Helen (Beamer) Barthels. Bob was a graduate of South Huntingdon High School class of 1955. Following high school he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 4 years. He then worked for Westinghouse and retired from Powerex of Youngwood. He was a member of Fells United Methodist Church in Rostraver Township. He was a leader of Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. He served as the president with Smithton Ambulance Service for many years. Bob will be sadly but fondly remembered by his loving family; wife of 63 years, Barbara (Farkas); daughter Robin (Mark) Roach of Youngwood; sons David of Smithton and Michael (Dawn) of West Newton; grandson Matthew Roach; and step-grandchildren Jay, Seth, and Olivia. The family would like to thank the entire staff Oak Hill and Caring Hospice for their wonderful care of Robert. Out of respect for Bob’s wishes there will be no viewing.
