Richard Duane Thryselius passed away May 17, 2021 at the VA Medical Center in Pittsburg, PA at the age of 90. He was born November 8th, 1930 at Geneva’s Community Hospital to Amelia Plunge Thryselius and Evar Karl Thryselius of Batavia, Illinois. Richard was raised and went to school in Batavia, Illinois until he graduated from Batavia High School in 1951. He enlisted in the Army Reserves in 1948 and was later enlisted in the Army corps of Engineers where he served as embassy security officer and military police in Berlin, Germany prior to the building of the Berlin Wall.

In 1951 Richard also married Colleen Fay Caviness of Aurora, Illinois with whom he relocated to Elburn, Illinois to have and raise their four children. He worked as a machinist at Thryselius Machining until the 1960’s when he formed his own business, Fox Valley Antennae Service, which he owned and operated until the early 90’s. Richard loved to travel and enjoyed fishing, dancing, swimming, skating, bowling, and golf. Though he relocated in his retirement to Stigler, Oklahoma he remained quite active well into his 80’s there until he came to live with his eldest daughter in Pennsylvania.

Richard was preceded in death by his beloved parents Amelia and Evar Thryselius. He is survived by his siblings; Sandra Thryselius Simmons, Melvin James Thryselius, and Karen Thryselius Boone, and by his four daughters; Sarah Thryselius Roth, Jill Thryselius Moore, Andrea Thryselius Rackmyer, and Kristi Thryselius Fredrickson as well as nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
