Richard Snyder Sr. Obituary

Richard Lee Snyder Sr., 71 of Hunker went to sleep in the arms of the Lord on January 24, 2025 at home with his devoted wife Robin at his side.  He was born in North Charleroi on July 21, 1953 to the late Elmer R. and Evelyn R. (Stuyvesant) Snyder.  Rick attended Plum High School where he met Robin when he was 17 and she was 16. They married a short time after she graduated, and shortly after Rick joined the U.S. Army.  He was stationed in Fort Bragg, NC from 1973-1976 where he proudly served as a radio operator, and upon returning to western PA Rick and Robin settled in New Stanton to raise their family on a strong foundation of love and traditional values centered in Christ.  Rick was passionate and determined about all endeavors, loved being outdoors and was a natural self -taught talented wood worker. He had worked for The Cypher Company, was self -employed with his own construction company, building furniture and home remodeling, and was the maintenance supervisor of Montgomery Ward. Rick walked daily with God and maintained a stalwart faith throughout his entire life and was a parishioner of New Stanton Assembly of God.  A humble and kind man, dedicated to his family, Rick’s presence and his word was always respected and valued.  A forever lasting legacy of tradition and respect for God and man will always be a part of the blueprint Rick leaves behind, as well as the light he will forever shine upon his family. Rick is survived by his best friend and beloved wife of 52 years Robin (Kibler) Snyder; cherished children Sandra M. Snyder- McElfresh (John Jr.) of Jeannette, and Richard L. Snyder Jr. (Hillary) of Hunker; grandchildren Kiley McElfresh , Janie (Grant), Lyric, Miles, Coleson, Kendyl, Trentyn, Dasyn, & Ophelia Snyder, and Easton Trout; daughter-in-law Malinda Snyder (Neil Trout) of New Stanton; sister-in-law Ruth Snyder of Monroeville; and his best canine companion his beagle mix Benny who was always right by Rick’s side.  Upon entering heaven, Rick was embraced in the arms of his son Ryan Paul Snyder who passed on April 19, 2022 and reunited with his brother James Edward Snyder and parents Elmer and Evelyn. The family would like to thank Excela Hospice for their kindness, compassion, and comfort they provided Rick and his family during this delicate time.
