Obituary
Orbie Helen (Oates) Shipley went home to be with the Lord on Saturday April 1, 2023, at Excela Health Westmoreland surrounded by love from her family. She was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on November 18, 1947 to the late Mack and Opal (Bray) Oates.
Orbie grew up in Lawton, Oklahoma and had a vibrant personality, was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a sweet woman with a tender heart and led her life with kindness always helping others. She met Joseph Russell Shipley Jr. at Fort Sill where he was an MP in the U.S. Army and together they raised their family on a foundation of love. Her greatest role was being a provider and nurturing her family, everlasting memories of camping, gardening, fishing, riding to the mountains, and going to the river will always be cherished. Her presence will be forever missed everyday, but her sweet spirit and deep love and devotion for her family will remain in our hearts and comfort us.
Orbie is survived by her beloved children, Marcie Shipley, Joseph R. Shipley III, and Brian K. Shipley; cherished grandchildren Mark Soliday, Leanna Soliday, and Nathan Jacobs; and four great grandchildren whom she adored.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband Joseph of 49 years.
