Nakata Marie Cowherd, 49 of Canonsburg, went to sleep in the arms of the Lord who lead her home on Saturday December 2, 2023 at Magee Women’s Hospital. She was born October 11, 1974 in Pittsburgh to the William L. and Gloria Jean (Johnson) Cowherd. Nakata had a vibrant personality, was an incredible mother daughter, sister and niece who walked daily with Christ. She was raised in her early years in Louisville, Kentucky and moved to Pittsburgh in elementary school and remained in the area for the remainder of her life. She loved to be social and whether she was playing spades and listening to music, she never missed an opportunity to remind her sisters she was the big sister, and her spirited personality always brought light to the room. Nakata’s daily presence will be missed so deeply most by her beloved daughter Stephani Alona Helen; her mother Gloria Cowherd and father William L. Cowherd; siblings Billy Cowherd (Melanie), Torrine Cowherd, Vincent Cowherd (Heather), and Sandra Johnson; her significant friend Ray Carson. She was surrounded in love always by numerous nieces especially Chantelle who Nakata spent a lot of time with, nephews, amazing cousins, and countless friends. Nakata was met in heaven by her maternal grandparents Robert and Alice Johnson, paternal grandparents Clarence and Adeline Cowherd; Uncle Paul Stewart; Aunt Sandy Johnson; Uncle Dwight Lyons; Aunt Linda Johnson; Uncle Billy Johnson; Uncle Clarence Jr., Uncle Roy Cowherd, Uncle Richard Cowherd, Aunt Geneva Sheckles, Aunt Bernice Cowherd, and Aunt Juanita Cowherd; and cousins Richard Johnson; Shemenia Johnson; and Evan Johnson. Isaiah 40:31 “But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” All arrangements are private and entrusted to ASHLEY D.
