Melvin Edward Guerrieri

Melvin E. Guerrieri, 68, of Greensburg died comfortably and peacefully the morning of Thursday, July 7, 2022, in his home from complications of Multiple Sclerosis.  Born October 9, 1953, in Greensburg, to the late Melio and Jane (Gramlich) Guerrieri, Melvin was raised on their family farm, in Rillton, along with his three siblings.  A graduate of the former Sewickley High School and a retiree from Elliott Company, Melvin believed in hard work and led his life with humanity and perseverance.  An athlete over his entire life, Melvin was an avid golfer with a great respect and passion for the gentlemen’s game and enjoyed softball and bowling in his early years.  Melvin had great pride in giving the best of himself to his family and his daily presence will be deeply missed by his surviving wife of 47 years Cindy (Smarra) Guerrieri; his daughter Holly Guerrieri of Yukon and his son Melvin (J.R) Jr. of New York City.  His siblings Donna Guerrieri of New Stanton; Malva (Toots) Podraza of RuffsDale and David (Linda) Guerrieri of Gettysburg.  Also, surviving are nephew Nikolas Podraza; sister-in-law Tammy Smarra and brother-in-law Frank (Patty) Smarra all of North Huntingdon, and a special family friend Janine Vertacnik of Yukon.  In addition to his parents Melvin was preceded in death by an infant brother, brother-in-law Adrian (Ace) Podraza; mother and father-in-law Helen and Frank (Sonny) Smarra.  The family would like to thank and extend their appreciation and gratitude to Renee, Karen and Amanda with AHN Hospice for the excellent care and comfort they provided Melvin and his family throughout his illness.  Please join us to honor Melvin’s life with a viewing on Monday, July 11, 2022, from 2 PM to 8 PM at ASHLEY D. X.
