Margaret Harriet Cope Lutz 92 of Hunker, PA, passed away peacefully Thursday May 5, 2022, surrounded by her loving family at the family home. Margaret, affectionately known as “Aunt Hon” or “Peg “was born on January 8, 1930 in Bullskin, Pa. and was the daughter of the late Fedorin Cope and Harriet Ramsey DeArmitt-Shupe-Cope. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Lutz on February 19, 2015. They were married on June 24,1949 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Winchester VA, having celebrated 65 years together. Margaret embraced her role as a homemaker caring for her family, always with a warm heart. She loved gardening, canning, tending to her flowers, reading and swapping books, making afghans for the grandchildren and great grandchildren. Hon loved the Christmas Season, creating everlasting memories every Christmas Eve at home after church with the family she built and loved, opening gifts, and a midnight Christmas meal. She adored fond summer times with family and friends sharing a meal around the campfire at Mountain Pines, and every August, five generations gathering and celebrating the family each year, in her home, a special family reunion she was so happy to host. Margaret carried an unwavering devotion to God and was an active and faithful parishioner of St. Luke's Lutheran Church of Youngwood, Pa where she taught Sunday school, helped with various church activities, and was famously known for her potato salad at the monthly Fellowship meetings.
