Louis Gene Atkinson, 81 of Greensburg died in the arms of the Lord on Monday March 3, 2025. He was born in Belle Vernon on June 28, 1943 to the late John and Sophie M. “Sally” (Foster) Atkinson Sr. Lou was raised in Belle Vernon graduating from Belle Vernon Area High School in 1961 and shortly after joined the U.S. Navy, stationed in Milton, FL. He worked at the Walworth Factory and for Tom Perry Home Builders installing pipelines for construction. He was an outdoor enthusiast, and if you were going to hang with Lou you certainly would find yourself camping, fishing, and floating down the river. He never missed a chance in the great outdoors, and loved sharing the beauty of nature with everyone he loved. When he wasn’t outside you could find Lou tinkering in the garage, carefully tending to his beloved Volkswagon Beetles. Fond memories of Lou spending time with family and friends, casting his fishing reel relishing in the outdoors or always willing to lend a helping hand, and his spirited personality and huge heart will be missed deeply.
