Joseph Dennis Rock Sr. “Denny”, 84 of Connellsville died peacefully on March 29, 2025 with his family next to his side. Denny was born and raised in West Newton on January 28, 1941, to the late Joseph and Mildred (Furar) Rock. He was a graduate of West Newton High School class of 1960 and at the age of 17 he began working at Howell Craft Monuments until the day he retired at age 75. Denny was an incredible and talented craftsman with granite, stone, and marble. He personally honored and memorialized tens of thousands of people with his intricate work on headstones gracing cemeteries across western PA. He often spent time at his camp in Bedford County, Schellsburg where he loved to hunt, watch westerns, and make a great breakfast. Denny also loved to dance and was a member of The Connellsville Independent Polish Club, Schellsburg VFW, and Elizabeth Township Gun Club. A man who believed in hard work and determination, and was a dedicated to his family, Denny led his life with kindness and generosity. He will be deeply missed most by his fiancé Susan Evans; children Wanda Pomaibo, Michelle Rock (Jeff Weimer), and Joseph “Denny” Rock Jr.; grandchildren Heath Pomaibo, and Joshua Saroinski; great-grandchildren Hunter and Jake McClintock; sister Denine Mathers; niece Danielle Reed (Lonnie); nephew Michael Mathers; and daughter-in-law Tracie Lynn Rock. In addition to his parents Denny was reunited with his wife Erma (Maple) Rock and granddaughter in heaven Sarah McClintock. Please join us to celebrate and honor Denny’s life with a viewing on Thursday April 3, 2025 from 1-3 & 5-7 p.m. & Friday April 4, 2025 from 10 am until time of service at 11 am with Pastor David L. Greer presiding at ASHLEY D. X. NYE CREMATION CARE & FUNERAL HOME INC. 408 Depot St. Youngwood. Burial will immediately follow service at Roundhill Cemetery 2131 Round Hill Church Rd.
