Jonathan D. Young, 49, of Youngwood, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Jan. 5, 2026. Jonathan was a loving and cherished Father, Son, Brother and Friend who will be remembered with profound and enduring affection. Jonathan was a graduate of Hempfield Area High School and was a skilled carpenter by profession. He owned and operated a well-known general contracting company which provided remodeling, renovation and construction services to many clients throughout the Pittsburgh Region. Jonathan was always ready and willing to share his enormous wealth of construction knowledge and experience through advice and ideas, providing countless friends, family and neighbors, service and support with their projects and dreams. He thoroughly enjoyed passing on his vast skill set to his three children through a hands-on approach ,teaching them the “tricks of the trade,” while spending time as a family completing projects around the house and his other properties. Jonathan will be remembered for his big heart and generous spirit. He would always find the time to help anyone, with any issue, without exception. His appreciable sense of humor always brought a smile to people’s faces. He was always ready with a joke to start a conversation or lighten the mood. His children will forever and fondly remember the family trips to Myrtle Beach, the lengthy hikes they would take together, the long hours playing ball in the yard, and their Dad’s constant “goofing around” that they enjoyed so much. Jonathan had a passion for the outdoors, animals, camping, cooking, movies and especially music (The Pixies). He took great pleasure in experiencing, discussing and sharing these loves with his children and friends. He was extremely proud and supportive of his children’s musical endeavors and their training to play musical instruments. Jonathan had an amazing ability to bring people together. He hosted countless gatherings both large and small. Many share vivid and lasting memories of his watch parties for Pittsburgh Steelers games, along with the bonfires that he would host on a regular basis. Jonathan always appreciated spending time with loved ones around a blazing fire, discussing the days events through stories and laughter. Those who were lucky enough to share these moments with him will never forget them. Jonathan pursued living life to the fullest, always wanting others to share in his enjoyment and experiences. His larger-than-life personality and penchant for telling captivating and humorous stories will live on in those that knew him. Jonathan is survived by his three beloved and heartbroken children, Jonathan Young Jr. (Son), Addison Young (Daughter) and Hayden Young (Son) of Hempfield Township, PA; his loving Father and Step-Mother, John and Mary Jane Young of Youngwood, PA; his loving Mother, Linda Morgan of Myrtle Beach, SC; his two brothers, Brett Young and Kevin Young, both of Myrtle Beach, SC; and a large network of extended family & close friends from southwestern Pennsylvania. A private service was held for the family at ASHLEY D. X. NYE CREMATION CARE & FUNERAL HOME INC. 408 Depot St. Youngwood, PA 15697
