John F. Stangl

John F. Stangl, 84 passed away peacefully, on Saturday August 28, 2021in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, from complications from the corona virus.  He was born August 16, 1937 in Oakmont, PA.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Rose (Mikos) Stangl, a brother Alfred Stangl and sister Rosemary Sabat.  John was a graduate of Duquesne University, a CPA/Accountant.   Prior to retirement, he worked in the Pennsylvania State Auditor General’s Department of School Audits, Controller at Latrobe Brewing Company, Controller at Long Air-dox Company, Controller at Chapman Company and Accountant at Toche Ross/now Deloitte Public Accounting Firm.  John served in the National Guard.  He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.  John enjoyed attending his grandaughters’ activities and sporting events, and tending his vegetable garden.  He is survived by his wife Patti of 46 years, son Jason and girlfriend Shari, daughter Alyssa (Dan) Cuomo, granddaughters Laura Stangl, Emily and Ava Cuomo, nephew Peter (Stacey) Sabat, sister-in-laws Janet Klemash and Diane Medwich, brother- in-law Paul Medwick, and niece Sarah Medwick.  There will be a viewing on Friday, September 3, 2021 from 3-6 pm at ASHLEY D. X. NYE CREMATION CARE & FUNERAL HOME INC. 408 Depot St. Youngwood, PA 15697.  A mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday September 7, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Grace Church, 1001 Mt.
