In Loving Memory of John Patrick Ryan
“Jack,” Dad, and “Pappy”

With heavy hearts but faith in God’s eternal promise, we announce the passing of our beloved John Patrick Ryan—known lovingly as “Jack,” Dad, and “Pappy”—who went home to be with the Lord in May 2025 at age 89.

Born on September 19, 1935, Jack lived a life grounded in faith, love, and unwavering devotion to his family. He was a loving husband, a devoted father, a proud grandfather, and a joyful great-grandfather. His life was a testament to his belief in God’s grace and his kind; humble spirit touched all who knew him.

After the death of his mother, Johanna Ryan (Stanton), when he was just six years old, Jack was lovingly and selflessly raised by his cherished “Margie,” who became a guiding light throughout his life.

Jack worked faithfully at Jones and Laughlin Steel in Hazelwood for over 40 years, remarkably missing only one day of work—reflecting his steadfast dedication and quiet strength. He found great joy in watching his sons, John and Mike, play basketball and cherished every moment with his daughter, Josie, who was his pride and joy.

He lit up when surrounded by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who affectionately called him “Pappy.” One of his favorite childhood memories was racing college students at Kennywood—and beating them—while wearing dress shoes.

Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Beverly Rosemary Ryan (Alexander); his children John (wife LouAnn), Josephine “Josie,” and Mike (wife Ann); his grandchildren Collin (fiancée Linda), Jennifer, Michael, Patrick (wife Crystal), Christine, Michael Ryan II (wife Kate), DeAnn (husband Tyler Huff), and Kristin (husband Vincent Mione); and his great-grandchildren  Alyssa, Taylor, Grayson, Grace, Noah, Payton, Jace, Aubrey, Dante, Gianna “Gia,” Sophia, and Elena. He is also remembered fondly by many extended family members and dear friends.

The Ryan family would like to thank Bridges Hospice, especially nurse Julia, for their exceptional care, love, and support. They treated us like family, and we are forever thankful.

Jack’s life and faith will be celebrated on Friday, June 13, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Our Lady of Grace Church, 1011 Mt. Pleasant Rd., Greensburg, PA 15601.  All blessed to know him are welcome to attend and honor his memory. All arrangements are entrusted to ASHLEY D. X. NYE CREMATION CARE & FUNERAL HOME INC. 408 Depot St. Youngwood , PA 15697 .  In Jack's memory, the family requests no flowers or donations, please consider helping someone in need, as Jack often did in quiet selfless ways .
