John Daniel Foreman, 84, of Hempfield Township, passed away on November 2, 2024. John was born on August 24, 1940, in Wheeling, W.Va., one of two sons of William Carroll Foreman and Mary Katherine Leese Foreman. John grew up in Wheeling, where he graduated from Wheeling Central Catholic High School and Wheeling College. He then earned an M.A. degree in political science and economics from West Virginia University and worked as a banking officer for Wheeling Dollar Savings and Trust, where he met his future wife, Helen Virginia (Donato), whom he married in 1967. John and Helen moved to Westmoreland County, where John worked in higher education as a professor and department chair at Seton Hill College (now Seton Hill University) and an administrator at Westmoreland County Community College and then Saint Vincent College, where he was dean for enrollment and planning. Among other later roles, he was chief financial officer for the Eye and Ear Institute in Pittsburgh and a consultant for the Teeter Associates professional services firm in Greensburg. During his career, he also served on the boards of the Westmoreland Cultural Trust and Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra. John is survived by his wife, Helen; sons, Sean (Hadley) and Chris (Katelyn); grandsons, Luke, Nichols (“Cole”), Elliott and Leo; his brother, William, and his family; and several cousins. No formal memorial service is planned. Should you wish to commemorate your connection to John or otherwise honor his legacy, his family invites you to donate to an organization doing good works in the community, such as those supporting children’s needs, alleviating hunger, or sustaining the arts.
