James William Wile 86, of Hunker died comfortably and peacefully the morning of Monday November 11, 2024 in his home. He was born in Luxor on October 12, 1938, and was one of three sons to the late Howard W. and Catherine E. (Hamilton-Patton) Wile. James attended Greensburg Salem and Hempfield High Schools where he excelled on the football field, and was dubbed the smallest and toughest tackle in the state of PA. He was a graduate of Hempfield and was crowned May King his senior year. He went on to study at Clarion University and later enlisted in the U. S. Navy where he worked as air traffic control before returning home and working for Robertshaw Control Co. for 38 years. James was an avid fly fisherman and also loved to fish for trout. He was a skilled craftsman, and could restore close to anything, including the home he built for his family. A train enthusiast, James was extremely knowledgeable about their intricacies and eventually turned into an appraiser for antique trains. He loved country westerns, antique farm equipment, and was a die- hard Penn State fan. Above all he was an amazing supportive father and grandfather, and his family brought him the greatest joy. James was a man who believed in hard work, and will leave a legacy of loyalty and deep love to his family. His presence will be deeply missed most by his surviving sons Howard Michael Wile and Jim Wile; cherished grandchildren Jade, Morgan, and J. J. Wile; brother Thomas Wile (Dianna); and many nieces and nephews. James joins in heaven his beloved wife Carol Grace (Sadler) Wile who passed in March 2024, and beloved daughter Catherine “Katie” Wile who passed in July 2024; as well as his parents Howard and Catherine; and brother Robert Howard Wile.
