James Resnick Obituary

James Marshall Resnick, 84 of Greensburg died peacefully in his home surrounded by comfort, love, and his family.  He was born December 29, 1940 in Natrona Heights to the late Paul Robert and Virginia (Mason) Resnick. Jim was employed with McDonald Douglas where he tested missiles in the Marshall Islands for the US military and entertained everyone with his guitar and his Johnny Cash-esque silver voice.  He also worked for the Westmoreland County Municipal Authority prior to retirement. Born at just 3 pounds, Jim grew into a 6'1”, 200 plus pound man with a catcher’s mitt for a hand, and mighty thunder in his swing. Jim could hit a baseball a country mile plus, and did often. Signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates as a heavy hitter and catcher, he played the game like he lived his life: all in, all heart. After leaving the game he loved due to severe injury to his eye, the woods and waters knew him best. An avid hunter and fisherman, Jim tracked deer with the same quiet focus he brought to calling a curveball, telling wild, colorful, amazing stories with such great humor, and loved to tell stories bigger than the bass he let go. At the track, he loved the horses, the speed and the gamble of a long shot. Jim would say "I'm the best handicap I know”, and he was great. He was affectionately named by his youngest daughter and her friends, "Big Daddy Jimmy" because he was a big man with a bigger heart who became a father figure to many. “Bullhead” -his brothers' nickname for him- was not a man you’d soon forget. He loved hard, fought hard, and left the field and this world, exactly as he found it: a little louder, a little wilder, and forever marked by his love for his family and friends. Jim is survived by his wife of 60 years Linda Crist Resnick, son John (Ethel) Resnick, Christina (Jeff) Kozemchok, Pauline (Bill) Dunbar, and Candice Nolan; grandchildren Jordan, Kaela, Marissa, Lauren, Andrew, Colton, Chad, Anna, Wade, Roi'alice, and Braunson; great grandchildren Circe, Theo, Kora, and Nova; brothers Paul Resnick (Marleen) and Thomas Michael Resnick (Diane). James was proceeded in death by brothers Claude, Joseph, and sister Polly Anne.
