James Theodore Downham

James T. Downham, 80, of Greensburg, entered into the arms of his Lord and Saviour, on Monday, June 22, 2026, at his home with his loved ones by his side. Born on December 6, 1945, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late James N. Downham and Betty (Hoffman) Downham. James was a member of the Greensburg Alliance Church. He attended McKeesport High School class of 1964, and received from Carnegie Institute of Technology an Associate Degree in Medical Technology and X-Ray Technology in 1964.

Prior to his retirement he had been employed by Westmoreland Hospital, several independent laboratories and then later by McKeesport Hospital, where he worked as a laboratory technician and laboratory supervisor. He also retired from Southwest Greensburg Police Department, in 2002 with 30 years of service as a patrolman. He was at one time a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, American Medical Technologists and American Radiological Technologists. He served as an EMS instructor from 1970-1974 with Mutual Aid Ambulance Services, WCCC and Westmoreland Hospital to train emergency response personnel. He also was a volunteer fireman for the Norvelt VFD.

In addition to his parents he was proceeded in death by his infant son James T. Downham Jr., and his stepmother Irma I. (Carrozza) Rizzo Downham. He is survived by his wife of 61 years Judith A. (Wolfe) Downham, daughters Dawn A. Evans and husband Brian, Beverly J.  and companion John Weber, Step sisters Claudia (Donald) Winkler, and Mary Ann D` Amico, his grandchildren Brian (Jaime) Evans Jr, Crystal (Thor) Hoffer, Stephen (Stephanie) Evans, Tammy Keslar, Amanda (James) Filipowski, Shannon Murray, Alex Murray and Shawn Murray,12 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and his beloved canine companion Luna.

As per James wishes there will not be any viewing, however there will be a memorial service held at Norvelt Union Church at a later date and time with Pastor David Greer as officiant. Cremation arrangements entrusted to ASHLEY D. X. NYE CREMATION CARE & FUNERAL HOME INC. 408 Depot St. Youngwood.
