Irene Cecilia (Straud) Baughman, 96 of Greensburg, went home to be with the Lord the early morning of June 27, 2024, where she died peacefully at her home. She was born in Duquesne on August 4, 1927, to the late Ludwig and Vincentia (Zekel) Straud. Irene grew up in Duquesne and worked as a Key Punch Operator at Duquesne Steelworks where she met her first husband Arnold Bradley Anderson, and had a daughter Arlene. Irene was a talented seamstress and loved going for rides in the country and flea marketing with her daughter. She went on to have two additional daughters with her second husband Phillip W. Baughman, and they settled into Jeannette to raise their daughters before Irene moved to Greensburg. Throughout her life she held a fierce faith in God and was a member of Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, and enjoyed helping gather items for the Trash “N” Treasure Sales at St. Paul’s Church. She was compassionate with a tender heart and led her life with kindness always helping others and animals especially her beloved kitties she rescued and raised. Fond memories of her watching Shark Tank, Wheel of Fortune, and The Price is Right while working crossword puzzles and coloring will always fill our hearts along with the legacy of the deep love she gave, as she was an incredible mother and gram, and affectionately was known as “Grammy Big Buck”. Her greatest role was being a provider and nurturing her family, and her spirited presence will be forever missed by her daughters Arlene (Anderson) Lander, Phyllis Kaufman, and Lorene Baum (Robert); grandchildren Cynthia (Bill), Christopher (Darlene), Jason (Jenna), Erica, Amy, Bobby, Robert, Jacob, and Kaylene (Brad); great- grandchildren Cameron, Alexis, Emma, Chase, and Zander , Stacy, and AJ; great- great grandchildren Hadlee, Huntlee, Baker, Rhett, Alexis, Jessie, Calire, Ellie, and Haley; and many nieces and nephews. Irene was greeted in heaven by her parents Ludwig and Vincentia; first husband Arnold Anderson and second husband Phillip W. Baughman; brother Arnold Straud and sister Francis Roman; son-in-law Jim Lander and her beloved kitties Baby Anthony, Baby, and Baby Rose who she had for 20 years. At Irene’s request all immediate services are private and entrusted to ASHLEY D. X. NYE CREMATION CARE & FUNERAL HOME INC. 408 Depot St. Youngwood, PA 15697. The family wants to sincerely thank Bridges Hospice and special nurse Marion for the exceptional care and comfort they provided to Irene and her family during this delicate time.
