Frances Francesco (Nesser) Garland

Frances Francesco (Nesser) Garland, 91, a longtime resident of Youngwood, was born into eternal life the night of February 17, 2026.  She was born in Uniontown on October 30, 1934, to the late Isaac and Elizabeth (Koury) Nesser and was a graduate of Immaculate Conception High School class of 1952.  Frances was a spirited personality full of passion, experiencing every drop of fun that life offered.  She could be called the original Rolling Stone as she was always on the go, positive and full of energy.  Frances traveled extensively and loved casinos, taking regular trips to Vegas at least 30 times during her life. She religiously played bingo three nights a week at her favorite spots; Collingsburg VFD and Turkeytown VFD.  She loved to play cards with friends and spent many of her younger years hitting the dance floor.  She always decorated her home for the holidays, especially her favorite, Christmas.  She never turned down a chance to go fishing and enjoyed long car rides in the country. Frances was a devout and faithful parishioner of Holy Cross Catholic Church. She held a staunch and fierce faith throughout her life, even combating two bouts of cancer courageously and gracefully moving forward and never looking back.  The cornerstone of Frances’s life was being a homemaker and pouring her heart into those she loved most.  Fond and comforting memories of beautiful holidays, birthdays, and celebrations, deep unwavering support, and unconditional nurturing will always be her lasting legacy.  Frances is survived by her beloved only son John “Chet” Joseph Jr., (Carole Simile); cherished grandson Jason Joseph (Leslie Joseph); and great-grandchildren; Ella Grace Joseph, Samuel John Joseph, Madison Bungard and Bailey Bungard.  In addition to her parents Isaac and Elizabeth Nesser, Frances was predeceased and joined in heaven by her baby girl Mary Jane Joseph; husband Edward “Steve” Garland (1984), fiancé Donald J. Farabaugh (2003), and life partner Dominic Minnici (2014), and her beloved siblings, Norman, George, and James Nesser, and sister Mary McNally.  Please join us to honor and celebrate Frances’s life with a viewing on Sunday March 1, 2026, from 2-4 p.m. & 6-8 p.m. at ASHLEY D. X.
