Donald Craig Young, 68 of Greensburg died on the evening of Tuesday September 27, 2022 comfortably in his home. In the famous words of Don himself, “To make a long story short”… He was born September 18, 1954 in Greensburg, the youngest child of Reba Dean Ober Young and the late James Wayne Young. He was distinctive and individual, a man who didn’t mince his words, commanded a presence in any room, and had a distinguished character. Don absolutely loved sociology, as well as twists and turns of human psychology and could be easily crowned the idiosyncratic king with his unforgettable personality. He believed in hard work and was a talented electrician, owning his own company for almost 50 years, Don Young Electric, servicing all of Westmoreland County and surrounding areas. He embraced nature, was an avid deer hunter, and had a passion and deep love for fish. He built a large pond at his home filled with beautiful koi fish, meticulously maintained his 110 -gallon fish tank in his home, as well as stocking his 2 acre lake with various types of fish. Don’s quick wit and cerebral sense of humor will always be cherished and his one of a kind spirit will forever be remembered on a daily basis his wife Sharon McCready Young and her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who affectionately called him “PappyDon”; his mother Reba Young; his cherished children and grandson; Craig Young of Moon, and Rachel Taylor and her son Jack Taylor of Irwin; siblings, Susan Larson of California State, Dennis (Jane) Young of Florida, Marjorie (Jack) French of Boston, MA, and Rodger Young of Florida; as well as a host of nieces and nephews, and cousins. Don joins his father James in heaven. “In loss there’s gain, in gain there’s loss. “ Please join us to celebrate and honor Don’s life with visitation on Saturday November 5, 2022 from 3 p.m. until time of Celebration of Life Services at 5p.m. with Pastor Rodney Little presiding at ASHLEY D.
