Dennis Dean Hillis 86 of Trouttown Road Hunker died Friday July 28, 2023. He was born September 12, 1936 in Youngwood, one of five children to the late Grant B. and Dorothy L. (Wolfe) Hillis. Dennis had mechanic mind and from the time he was young, he worked on his father’s freight trucks, eventually working as a machinist and retiring from D.M.E. Corp. in Youngwood. He was a proud U.S. Army Veteran and enjoyed sharing stories serving as a tank crewman. In addition to his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by his wife of almost 45 years Genevieve F. (Waugaman)Hillis in 2008; brother Grant W. (Pete) Hillis; brother-in-laws Donald Vinkler and James Keyes. Dennis will be fondly remembered by his surviving sisters Kay Vinkler, Becky Keys, and Connie Sillaman, and her husband Ronald Sillaman; sister-in-law Linda Hillis; and many nieces and nephews. Viewing will be on Monday July 31, 2023 from 3-6 p.m. & on Tuesday August 1, 2023 from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. at ASHLEY D. X. NYE CREMATION CARE & FUNERAL HOME INC. 408 Depot St. Youngwood, PA 15697. Entombment will immediately follow funeral service at Westmoreland County Memorial Park Greensburg.
