Delores Marie Rivera

  Delores Marie (Messenger) Rivera, 74. of Greensburg, widow of the late Hector Rivera, passed away peacefully at her home on May 25, 2023. 

  Delores was born on January 28, 1949 in Hartford, CT, daughter of the late Alvin and Shirley (Castle) Messenger.  She was the second of four daughters born to Alvin and Shirley. Dee attended school in Ellington, CT. She married Hector on January 24, 1972 in East Hartford, CT. They raised a family of one, a son, David, born in 1973.  Dee was employed by Culbro Corporation for a number of years until she moved to PA in 1990. Dee enjoyed listening to 50’s rock ‘n’ roll, her favorite artist being Elvis Presley, and she had a large collection of Elvis memorabilia. She also, like her mother, loved to cook and was always in the kitchen preparing meals and deserts from scratch for her family.

  Delores leaves a son, David Rivera of East Granby, CT; three sisters, Beverly Hathorne of Westfield, MA, Roberta and her husband Charles Olszewski of East Granby, Bonnie and her husband James Montemerlo of Windsor Locks, CT; a brother, Alvin Messenger, Jr. of East Granby; many nieces and nephews and numerous friends.
