Dana Irene Olson

Dana Irene Olson, 59 of Greensburg Hempfield Township gained her wings on Thursday September 19, 2024 after a fierce battle with cancer in the comfort of her home with her daughters at her side.  She was born August 20, 1965 in McKeesport to the late James and Irene (Giehll) McCarthy. Dana grew up in the North Huntingdon area and was a graduate of Norwin High School class of 1983.  She had a huge heart, which shined in her role as a personal caretaker at Golden Heights. She loved her patients who were lucky enough to be touched with her gentle care as she held many hands during their transitions to heaven. Dana was naturally an incredible mother and grandmother. She loved her family, and will always leave a strong foundation routed in deep love.  Dana held a strong faith in God and we are comforted knowing she with him.  Dana is survived by her children; twins Stephanie and Jessica Guest; Daniel Olson; and Naomi Olson; grandchildren Jameson and Charlotte Wareham; brother Patrick McCarthy; and her loyal beagle pup Snoopy who never left her side. In addition to her parents James and Irene McCarthy, Dana was preceded in death by her brother James “Jimi” McCarthy.  Her family would like to thank Independence Hospice especially Lisa and Kathy for their tender care and comfort given to Dana and her family through this delicate time.  They would also like to thank Dr. Gill and all the staff at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center.  Per Dana’s wishes all immediate services are private and a memorial will be announced at a later date.  Please visit our tribute wall to leave a condolence or share a memory of Dana.
