On Sunday September 22, 2024, Barbara Rose (Mohney) (Hanusek) Kuhn went to sleep in the arms of the Lord after a life well lived! She waited to celebrate her 96th birthday with her beloved family and dear friends. She was born in Cleveland, OH to the late Kenneth and Rose (Sistek) Mohney on September 14, 1928. Barbara grew up in Murray City, OH, a daughter of a coal miner, she was taught at a young age the importance of family and hard work. She graduated from Hurst High School class of 1946. She started her life long career as a printing press operator soon after High School at Henry Printing in Greensburg and went on later to work for Foothills Litho Co. in Latrobe. Her career talents served her well until retirement. She married her first love, Bernard “Pete” S. Hanusek, a WWII Army Veteran, in 1950. Together they built their life in Mt. Pleasant, opened an insurance business, became foster parents, and finally adopting two children she loved unconditionally. Barbara cherished being a mother, as she was a natural nurturer and provider. Widowed in 1965, she would later find her second love, James M. Kuhn, a businessman in Mt. Pleasant who owned and operated The Coffee Pot Restaurant. Together they enjoyed traveling, trailer camping and spending their free time with their families and each other. Remaining active her entire life kept Barbara sharp, she was an avid daily newspaper reader, always doing the daily crossword puzzles, she was a good bowler, enjoyed making candy and sharing her chocolate confections and she loved painting ceramics, making beautiful pieces that her family and friends will always cherish. A woman with a fierce faith in God, Barbara worshipped in many churches, but she found her church family at Good Sheppard Lutheran Church in Mt. Pleasant. Her glass was always half full and she always saw the good in all around her. A smile for everyone she met, Barbara always graced people with her tender heart and positive spirit. She will be so deeply missed by her beloved children Linda M. Joseph (Brett) and Gary M. Hanusek, both of Youngwood, PA; sister-in-law Florence Mohney; and several nieces and nephews, including special niece Sandy Koliscak. Also, she is survived by her foster daughter who never forgot her, Irene Kranitz, and special friend Becky Ciglar. Barbara was preceded in death by two husbands Bernard “Pete” S. Hanusek and James M. Kuhn; her parents Kenneth and Rose Mohney; siblings Janet Pinskey and Kenneth “Pete” Mohney; daughter-in-law, Mary Hanusek, and countless friends.
